Kia is on a roll with its electric models, and the new 2025 Kia EV4 sedan and hatchback will occupy the right niche in terms of price, range, and size. Just a couple of days ago, Jalopnik revealed photos and some details about the upcoming model, showing that Kia is focusing on adding smaller EVs to its lineup with better efficiency and a lower price of entry.

What the EV4 won’t sacrifice are style, tech, and practicality. While it bears some of the same squared-off styling as the gas-powered K4 sedan, the EV4 is a completely different vehicle from the ground up. The brand wants its electric models to look more premium than its gas offerings, and that’s evident in the EV4’s details.

The 2025 Kia EV4: Premium looks, non-premium price
The new EV4 will be similar in size to the Hyundai IONIQ 6 sedan since they will likely share the same E-GMP platform, downsized from use in both the EV6 and EV9. If you hold it up against the 2023 EV4 concept, it looks largely unchanged, including the sloping hood, vertical headlights, pointy fenders, and angular bodywork. Thankfully, the weird triangular wheels didn’t make their way to the production version.

The front halves of both models are identical, including the new “EV Tiger Face”, vertical LED headlight clusters, the aforementioned sloping clamshell hood, and a steeply raked windshield.
Style differentiators between the sedan and hatchback include different taillights, side quarter window shapes, and rear roof trim. The hatchback gets a roof spoiler, while the sedan incorporates some unique “eyebrow”-shaped black trim pieces. The sedan also gets a sweet-looking ducktail spoiler built into the trunk lid.

Unknowns about the powertrain and interior
We expect the EV4 to share much of its electric-only powertrain with the Hyundai IONIQ 6, meaning 53-kWh single motor and 77.4-kWh dual motor battery capacities with between 240 and 342 miles of range. The EV4 will get a sportier-looking GT-Line version and potentially even a high-performance GT version similar to the 576-horsepower EV6 GT. It’s still unknown if the EV4 would offer all-wheel drive. Similar to the IONIQ 6, DC fast charging would likely net 10-80% charge in about 20 minutes.

Kia hasn’t dropped any shots of the interior, but it’s safe to say the cabin will probably bear a lot of similarity to its electric siblings with large instrument and infotainment screens, a layered dashboard, a floating center console, modern switchgear, and an airy and welcoming atmosphere.

Final thoughts
We’ll know more when the EV4 officially debuts at Kia’s EV Day event in Tarragona, Spain, on February 24. It’s great to see automakers like Kia move toward smaller, more affordable, and still stylish EVs that will appeal to a wider range of buyers. They’re certainly pushing the envelope of styling, and that design language is well-executed here. The fact that they’re coming in sedan and hatchback forms provides variety and also runs against the tide of an SUV-only EV lineup.
