College basketball delivered the most entertaining weekend of the regular season that we’ve seen to date, headlined by the first No. 1 vs. 2 matchup in SEC history. Fans saw Auburn top Alabama, Michigan State beat Illinois, Wisconsin escape Purdue, St. John’s defeat Creighton, and many more thrilling outcomes.
So, what do these results mean for the NCAA Tournament discussion? FOX Sports bracket forecaster Mike DeCourcy is here to answer that question with his latest NCAA Tournament projections.
Duke (East), Auburn (South), Alabama (Midwest) and Florida (West) remain on the 1-line in DeCourcy’s latest NCAA Tournament projections. The Gators have won seven of their last eight, including a dominant win over South Carolina this past weekend.
Tennessee, Houston and Texas A&M remain No. 2 seeds, while Iowa State jumped up to the 2-line following back-to-back wins over UCF and Cincinnati this past week.
Michigan, Purdue, Wisconsin and Texas Tech are listed as No. 3 seeds, while St. John’s, Arizona, Michigan State and Marquette round out the No. 4 seeds in DeCourcy’s latest projections.
As for the bubble, DeCourcy has West Virginia, BYU, Arkansas and Wake Forest among his last four teams to get into the tournament, while Georgia, UC Irvine, VCU and SMU are listed as DeCourcy’s first four teams out.
North Carolina, Indiana, Xavier and Cincinnati are DeCourcy’s next four teams out of the NCAA Tournament.
The SEC has the most representatives in DeCourcy’s latest compilation, with 13 teams. The Big Ten has 10 teams represented, while the Big 12 has eight teams in the tournament, according to DeCourcy. The ACC and Big East have four teams, while the Mountain West has three teams in the mix and the West Coast has two teams.
